3FX Produces Diabetes 3D “Interactive Learning Modules”
3FX recently completed multiple, complex and detailed 3D animations visualizing the various areas within the body affected by diabetes.
Incorporated within a Flash-based interactive speaker presentation, the “Learning Modules” feature patient case studies, with the unique ability to customize medical history and information; and also view the resulting disease progression within the animation.
When asked what was the technical challenge, Mitch Wishart, 3FX Art Director, comments – “animations produced brought a whole new dimension to the way 3FX approaches large scale animations projects. Our greatest challenge was to get five different animators, working on three different 3D software packages, all to come up with the same look and feel. Once this look had been established, we had the animators for Maya, Max, & Cinema 4D all working on creating scenes and animations that would seamlessly fit together. Finally, using one artist to composite all six chapters of the show, the final animation maintained an aesthetically smooth and consistent feel.”
